What does ProductBooks build?
ProductBooks designs and builds a custom online configurator for your product and process. It uses your product rules to check options, perform calculations and prepare sales and technical documents. The finished configurator normally runs on the ProductBooks platform with support and updates.
What can a configurator automate?
It can help users select product options, check technical rules, calculate prices and prepare quotes, bills of materials, drawings or CAD files. We define the exact functions and outputs for each project.
What types of products are not a good fit?
A custom configurator may bring little value if a product has very few options and quotes are already quick to prepare. Automation is also difficult when key engineering rules cannot be defined or checked. Even highly customized products can be a good fit if part of the work follows repeatable rules.
How is ROI estimated?
The calculator uses your quote volume, time per quote and total employer cost per hour to estimate current costs. It automatically estimates potential acceleration, implementation cost and time, then calculates savings, payback time and 24-month ROI. You can also adjust the automatically estimated values manually. After an initial review of your product and process, we can refine these assumptions and prepare a more accurate estimate.
What does the POC include?
The POC is a small working version for one representative use case. Together, we agree on the product rules, calculations and outputs it should demonstrate. This lets your team check the approach before full implementation.
How long do the POC and full implementation take?
A POC typically takes about 2–3 months. The time needed for full implementation depends on the agreed scope, engineering rules, documents and integrations. We estimate that stage separately after discussing your product and process.
How much input do you need from our engineers?
We need your engineers to explain the product rules and share examples of existing calculations and documents. They also review the POC and check important cases and exceptions. The amount of time needed depends on how well your rules are already documented.
How do you validate engineering rules and calculations?
We test the configurator against examples with known results. Together with your engineers, we compare the calculations and documents, investigate differences and check important limits and exceptions. Your team confirms the rules and results before they are accepted.
Can ProductBooks integrate with our CRM or ERP?
Yes, where your systems provide the required way to exchange data. We first agree on what information the configurator should receive and what it should send back, such as customer details, product configuration, price or order data. We assess the integration scope and security requirements for each project.
